Switching & Data Portability
This page explains how a merchant can switch away from Vantemo (Inovacijų dialogas, MB) to another provider, or move their data in-house, and what it costs (nothing). It is published in accordance with Article 26 of the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854), which requires providers of data processing services to make the switching and porting procedures, methods, and formats publicly available before a contract is concluded, together with a reference to an up-to-date register of the data structures and formats in which data is exported. Switching charge information is published under Article 29(4) and (6).
The corresponding contractual rights and obligations are set out in the “Switching and Exit” section of our Terms of Service (implementing EU Data Act Article 25). Information about the jurisdiction our infrastructure is subject to, and the measures we take against unlawful international governmental access to non-personal data (Article 28), is published separately on our Data Jurisdiction page.
Switching procedure
You can switch away from Vantemo at any time. The process is designed so that you retain control of, and access to, your data throughout.
- Give notice. Notify us of your intention to switch or terminate. The maximum notice period is two months (EU Data Act Art. 25(2)(d)).
- Transition period. On termination there is a mandatory transition period of 30 days, during which the service continues so you can complete the switch. You may extend this period once, and where a switch is not technically feasible within 30 days it may be extended up to a maximum of seven months, with at least 14 working days' advance notice (Art. 25(2)(a) and (5)).
- Export your data. At any time before, during, or for at least 30 days after the transition period, you can generate a complete, machine-readable export of your store's data on request (see the register below). We provide reasonable assistance to support the switch and maintain business continuity and security throughout (Art. 25(2)(e) and (f)).
- Retrieval and erasure. Your exported data remains retrievable for at least 30 days after the transition period ends. After the retrieval period, your data is erased in accordance with our Privacy Policy (Art. 25(2)(g)).
Methods and formats
Switching is supported by a self-service full-store data export. On request, Vantemo assembles a single downloadable archive (a ZIP bundle) containing your store's data in structured, machine-readable, open formats — CSV and JSON. The bundle is made available through a short-lived, authenticated download link and is retained only briefly before automatic deletion.
The export covers the data you are entitled to port: your products, orders, customers, storefront content, and store configuration. It excludes data we cannot lawfully or safely re-port to you — in particular tokenized payment-card data held by our payment processors, third-party provider credentials and secrets, and Vantemo's own intellectual property and trade secrets (EU Data Act Art. 25(2)(h) and Art. 30(6)).
Register of exported data structures and formats
The following register describes the files, formats, and contents of the export bundle, and is kept up to date as the export evolves. Each bundle also includes a machine-readable manifest.json that is the authoritative description of that specific export, listing every file with its format and its schema (column or field names).
| File | Format | Contents |
|---|---|---|
manifest.json | JSON | Export metadata: export timestamp, store identifier, and the list of files in the bundle with each file's format and schema (column/field names). This is the authoritative, machine-readable register for the export. |
products.csv | CSV | Your product catalogue — product fields, images, and tags. |
orders.csv | CSV | Your orders and their line items. |
content.json | JSON | Storefront content and configuration — blog posts, pages, storefront sections, and store settings (design tokens, storefront configuration, locale/currency, and business/contact information). Excludes provider credentials and secrets. |
customers.json | JSON | Your customer records and the customer-owned personal data you are entitled to port — customers, saved and order addresses, orders and line items, and consent records. Excludes tokenized payment-card data. |
Known restrictions and limitations
- The export contains the data you are entitled to port. It does not include tokenized payment-card data (held by our payment processors and not ours to re-port), third-party provider credentials or secrets, or Vantemo's own software, models, and trade secrets.
- Data is exported in open, structured formats (CSV and JSON). We do not guarantee that a receiving provider's system will accept these formats without transformation; the formats and schema are documented in the register above and in each bundle's
manifest.jsonto make mapping straightforward. - Export bundles are retained for a short period (currently 7 days) after generation and are then deleted automatically. Generate a fresh export if a download link has expired.
- For very large stores, assembling an export may take some time; the export is produced asynchronously and you are notified when it is ready to download.
Switching charges
Vantemo charges €0 for switching and data export. There are no switching charges, no data-egress or porting fees, and no early-termination penalties for exercising your switching and portability rights. This is published in accordance with EU Data Act Article 29(4) and (6), and applies from day one — we do not rely on the transitional reduced-charge regime that runs until 12 January 2027.
Standard subscription fees for the service itself continue to apply for any period in which you use the service (including during a transition period), as set out in your plan and in our pricing. Those are ordinary service fees, not switching charges.
